1. General overview of pedestrian passages
Pedestrian passages generally refer to pedestrian turnstile , such as the common equipment for swiping cards at entrances and exits of metro station. But in a broad sense, it can be divided into many types. For example, all equipment that controls pedestrian access should be included, such as hotel revolving doors, automatic doors and even the home doors. With the development of the economy and the progress of society, more and more places need to use equipment to maintain traffic order. No matter what form of pedestrian passages, are being used more and more to better serve the public and the society.

Channel gate , generally referred to as turnstile gate .According to the shapes of the blocking body, it is generally divided into tripod turnstiles, flap barrier gates, swing turnstiles,full height turnstiles, one arm turnstiles, and barrier-free passages. And each category has many classifications according to the type of machine core and the dimensions of the equipment itself.
Due to the limitations of bloggers' knowledge, here we only discuss the passage gates of pedestrian passages. The blogger will divide it into several articles and explain them separately. This article will only elaborate on tripod turnstile.
2. Tripod turnstile
Tripod turnstiles are also called three-bar gates, three-stick gates, three roller gates, roller gates, and rolling gates. The arresting body (tripods) is composed of three metal rods to form a triangular space. Generally, it is a hollow and closed stainless steel tube, which is strong and not easy to deform. The arresting and releasing are realized by rotation.
Tripod turnstiles are divided into mechanical, semi-automatic, and fully automatic types according to the different control methods of the machine core. Some manufacturers will call the semi-automatic type the electric type, and the fully automatic type as the automatic type. The mechanical type is to control the operation of the blocking body (connected to machine core) by strength, and the mechanical limit controls the stop of the machine core. The semi-automatic type is to control the operation and stop of the machine core through solenoids. The fully automatic type is to control the machine core through a motor to operate and stop.
According to the number of machine cores and blocking bodies contained in the same turnstile gate, it can also be divided into single machine core (including 1 machine core and 1 blocking body) and double machine core(including 2 machine cores and 2 blocking bodies, symmetrically shaped).
According to the length of the housing, it is divided into vertical tripod turnstile and bridge tripod turnstile.
The tripod turnstile gate is the earliest type of turnstile, and it is also the most mature and perfect developed so far. However, due to the limitation of the shape of the blocking body, it is slightly "ugly" compared to other types of turnstile gates, and has gradually been adopted by the subsequent swing gates and flap barrier gates trend of substitution. But its excellent weather resistance makes its vitality still very strong. In the eyes of many people, the tripod turnstile is not only economical and practical, but also "sturdy" and "durable". In 2017, the three-roller gate ushered in its spring, and the "infrastructure maniac" also brought an excellent "radiation" effect to the turnstile gates in the public security field. Many manufacturers have also "emerged as the times require". While the market is very "hot", the phenomenon of "uneven" quality of various turnstiles has gradually increased. I still remember that before, everyone was talking like this: "The thickness of the turnstile plate is 1.0mm, how can it be used?". But slowly, now not only is the thickness getting thinner and thinner, there are turnstiles with a thickness of 0.65mm, and some turnstiles are no longer made of 304, but are replaced by 201, or white iron. Individual manufacturers have achieved the ex-factory price of 500-600RMB for per unit, which was even unthinkable before, and many veteran original turnstile factories found it incredible. I think that besides the marginal effect brought by the large quantity, there must be some "cut corners" that cannot be avoided.
In foreign countries, the popularity of tripod turnstile gate is neither low nor high. Over the years, there has been a trend towards more and more "lightweight". Turnstiles are getting smaller and more elegant. Compared with domestic market, three-roller gates are regarded as representatives of low-end turnstile gates. Some foreign brands of three-roller gates have a high level of workmanship, configuration, machine manufacturing, and smooth operation, even surpassing flap barrier gates and swing gates. In addition to some conventional places, its application scenarios, such as buses and bathroom entrances, have a lot of applications. The blogger once went to Turkey and there said a joke: a large part of their GDP is supported by toilet tickets in their country. A visit to the toilet costs 1-3 lire (about 1.5-5 yuan at the time) , some "toilet owners" put a few tripod gates at the entrance. If you want to go to the toilet, you can use coins to open the gate and you can pass freely when you come out. This is a safe and economical control method.
With the development of the times, the proportion of the application of tripod turnstile may become lower and lower. But due to its own characteristics, it is unlikely to be replaced by other forms of turnstiles. The demise of tripod gates, unless one day the world no longer needs turnstile gates, otherwise it is estimated that it will not. However, you might as well imagine that one day, the world will be unified and there will be no more conflicts. There will be no need to maintain order or control the flow of people in any place. Everyone will consciously implement public order. Only peace doves will fly in the sky, that may be when that turnstile disappears.
